Ingredients
  • 300gms Quorn MinceYou can use Soya mince too. See notes below to see how to make Soya mince from Soya chunks
  • 2tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1tsp cumin seeds
  • 2-3pods garlicchopped
  • 1/2inch Gingerchopped
  • 1medium green chillifinely chopped
  • 1large onionfinely chopped
  • 2-3 tomatoesfinely chopped
  • 1-2 bay leaves
  • 1inch cinnamon
  • 5-6 cloves
  • 5-6 black pepper pods
  • 1tsp turmeric powder
  • 1tsp red chilli powder
  • 2tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2tsp garam masala powder
  • 100gms frozen or fresh green peas
  • Handful coriander leavesfinely chopped
  • Salt to taste
Recipe Notes
  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Add cumin and all the whole spices, let the  cumin seeds splutter.
  3. Add onions, ginger, garlic and green chillies. Mix and fry until golden brown.
  4. Add all ground spices, except garam masala, and salt. Stir for about a minute.
  5. Add tomatoes and fry until oil separates.
  6. Add mince (see notes below on how to make Soya Mince), combine with the rest of the ingredients and cook with a little water for about 15 mins with the lid on.
  7. Add peas and cook for few more minutes. 
  8. Switch off heat, sprinkle garam masala and the chopped coriander leaves. Stir well.
  9. Serve hot with Pav or white/wholemeal buns, or chapatis/rotis alongside chopped onions and lemon wedges.

How to make Soya Mince from Soya Chunks

  • Bring a litre of water to the boil in a deep sauce pan, to this add salt and then the soya chunks.
  • Simmer for about 10 mins.
  • Take off heat, and strain the water out of the soya chunks.
  • Add the soya chunks to cold water. Keep immersed in cold water for about 5 mins.
  • Now squeeze the water out of the soya chunks and make a coarse mixture in the blender.
  • The soya mince is ready to use.
